what 3 days can do!

September 16, 2005

It is GREAT to be home! :) Though I was gone for just a few days, I cant help but feel that and say that! The minute our aeroplane touched Philippine soil, a smile formed on my face and excitement washed over me. There truly is no place like home. I missed my kuya, RX esp Louie and Sanya, my pussies, yes, I have many! ;) and the smell of Filipinos….hehehe

I had to go to Malaysia to interview a popular UK-based band - rooster, composed of 4 young brits in their early twenties. Cute to the very core, Luke, Nick, Ben and Dave were such great fun! One word to describe these guys, MAKULIT!!!

They could not stay still for a second, spoke about their experiences with such passion and vigor, and once again, CUTE to bits!!!! I had a crush on Luke, believed I will be the future Mrs. Potashnik, that is of course if Usher lets go of me, but I left, infatuated with Nick instead. He kept asking about my accent, ended up interviewing me instead and over dinner, yes, we had dinner with them at Hard Rock cafe, next to their hotel, kept eating off my plate! Nick honey, you can eat me anytime….I meant my food…. :)

But I had another plan up my sleeve.  I wanted to go to KL, with all the pain I have been carrying around since august 14, 2005, and leave it all behind! Just take the memories, the anger, the HURT, the confusion, deception and the broken dreams and all the negative energy caused by this one thing, and leave it all behind in KL. Was I able to do that? Let’s just put it this way….I never deserved any of it so I will move on….

Malaysia! Beautiful country, esp KL. The Petronas twin towers, the KL tower are truly sights that will take your breath away! The rest of the city is just as impressive! clean, very developed,  infrastructures are incomparable to the philippines, which saddens me. Think about it, malaysia is just back door to zamboanga! Why are they in the state they are in, and we aren’t? rate of exchange? 1 US dollar is about 3.65 Rinnggit, compare that to our 56.70!!! first thing I noticed upon arrival, nobody, not a single soul was present to check our luggage. I had my baggage claim stubs in my palm, ready to be verified, but no one! wow! they trust their people that much? A public train passes right through the airport. Their train actually has a stop at the airport itself? One thing I wished we could be a little bit more accomodating to?  well wishers! loved ones that can see us off and stay with us until the very last minute. Not be shooed off like pests!

I love hotels and hotel rooms! I just really do! Whenever I am exhausted from work, and my crazy jampacked days, i treat myself to a hotel stay. My favourite place - shangrila-edsa. something about the comfy, white comforters and the ambiance that i just find so relaxing! sunbathing by the poolside is heaven to me. We stayed at the Hotel equatorial, one of many, in that hotel-mall-clubs strip of Jalan Sultan Ismail. we were right beside shangrila and the concorde (where rooster was staying….hmmmmm….) If only we were not in a foreign land, I would have opted to stay in, sunbathe and SLEEP! One of the things I SO love that I am SO deprived of.

As soon as you walk out of the hotel, in your full view, are KL tower, and behind you, Petronas. Within a few metres, you will find the malls but being a non- shopper, that wasn’t anything to wet my trousers over. Besides, there wasn’t anything you can find out there, that was not available in our homeland! and for much cheaper too! Think greenhills! hahaha…listen to me talk….I have yet to explore that haven of great finds myself. I really am not a shopper!

Anyway, having gone out of the philippines again makes me appreciate home even more! We truly are the most hospitable country on the planet. Though I have never been discriminated against, whether in the US, Africa or Europe, Pinoys are very accomodating and friendly. I do not wish to say anything against the Malaysians, ( stay mum if you have nothing good to say) ,  coz our experience could have been an isolated case, and i didn’t stay there long enough to really mingle with the natives,  but suffice it to say, Filipinos are NICE!!!

This is long enough. Pictures coming very soon! A lot more epiphanies as a result of this trip on this site. Thank you once again to the band ROOSTER,  level up games, roseonline (www.roseonline.ph), Sony BMG Philippines (Roslyn, Espie and Chito) and Sony BMG Malaysia for one of the highlights of my year!

it's good to hear you had a good time!there's indeed no place like home but travelling gives us a lot of opportunities to appreciate other cultures and see what we need to improve on.
